On September 28, we held our first Kazakhstan Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference in Almaty. More than 300 guests came to listen to speakers of the conference and to attend the exhibition area.
About the conference
The conference involved 14 speakers from the UK, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. After presentations, speakers were surrounded by guests, wishing to ask them questions. Asel Zhiyenbayeva, Chief Digital Officer at Astana International Financial Centre, delivered a welcome speech, opening the conference.
Specialists of such companies as IBM, PwC, Sberbank and others made their presentations. They analyzed the advantages of distributed ledger technologies for businesses and government. Speakers also discussed the cryptocurrency legal regulation in various countries. The mining issue was also revealed: cryptocurrency mining experts provided a detailed presentation about the opportunities of home and industrial mining in the republic. One separately discussed blockchain initiatives in Kazakhstan and authorities’ attitude to them.
“The blockchain can even fully replace authorities. Soon, government officials will be replaced by totally fair blockchain-based algorithm. Once, we offered authorities to integrate the blockchain in the voting process and did not get a response,” according to Ilyas Mailibayev, a technological consultant at PwC.
About the exhibition
The event took place at the Bakshasaray House of receptions. Besides the conference, guests of Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Almaty were able to attend the exhibition area. Exhibitors include 25 specialized companies: blockchain developers, mining hardware providers, financial companies, cryptocurrency wallets and even representatives of the computer entertainment industry.
We were pleasantly surprised with the feedback of conference guests and participants. One of speakers – Anton Shmakov, a system architect at IBM – said that the audience was open to the dialogue, while participants raised the most significant and relevant issues for Kazakhstan. Therefore, we will keep holding events of the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference series and expand its geography. Only this year, we will organize another three events: in Cyprus (November 30), Malta (December 7), and Slovenia (December 12).
